Bottom Line

Choose it for strong suction, excellent long-hair handling, bright dust detection, and easy maintenance. Skip it if you want a quiet hard-floor head, longer powered runtime, or better value than a discounted higher-end Dyson.

Best for

Best for homes with long hair, pets, mixed flooring, and users who want powerful cordless cleaning without frequent brush-roll cutting. It also suits buyers who value a removable battery and easy maintenance.

Not for

Skip it if quiet hard-floor cleaning, maximum front-edge precision, or a ready-to-use self-empty system matters most. Buyers near V15 pricing should compare higher-end sale options first.

Verdict

The Dyson V10 Konical combines genuinely strong suction with excellent long-hair control, useful green dust illumination, and an easy-to-service design. Hands-on testing places its cleaning performance above the V8 and near more expensive Dyson sticks, especially on carpet, pet hair, and everyday hard-floor debris. The tradeoffs are concentrated in the conical floorhead: it is noisy on hard floors, needs extra maneuvering at front edges, collects dust around its center channel, and can trap oversized objects. Runtime with the powered head is also much shorter than the headline 60 minutes. The separate Auto-empty Dok is promising, but delayed availability and extra cost weaken the package. At a strong sale price it is compelling; near V15 pricing, the upgrade is harder to justify.

  • 4.9
    based on 4 reviews
Maintenance requirements: 4.9, based on 4 reviews
Routine maintenance is unusually approachable: the head opens easily, filters wash cleanly, and the anti-wrap rollers reduce cutting chores. Dust still accumulates inside the cones and center channel.
  • 4.8
    based on 4 reviews
Debris illumination: 4.8, based on 4 reviews
Dust illumination is a standout feature, exposing fine debris on hard floors and making missed spots obvious during cleaning.
  • 4.8
    based on 4 reviews
Headlight and LED lights: 4.8, based on 4 reviews
The bright green headlight is genuinely useful, revealing dust that ordinary room lighting misses and helping users make more complete passes.
  • 4.8
    based on 3 reviews
    Hair‑Wrap / Tangle Resistance: 4.8, based on 3 reviews
Hair-wrap resistance is one of the vacuum's biggest strengths. Long household hair is guided off the rollers instead of winding tightly around them.
  • 4.8
    based on 3 reviews
    Upholstery / Above-Floor Pickup: 4.8, based on 3 reviews
The mini motorized tool is highly effective on couches, car interiors, and other above-floor surfaces, grabbing hair and debris quickly.

  • 4.8
    based on 2 reviews

  • 4.8
    based on 2 reviews
Cyclone performance: 4.8, based on 2 reviews
The cyclones separate and compress debris effectively, helping the filters stay cleaner and preserving strong airflow with relatively little upkeep.
  • 4.5
    based on 4 reviews
Suction and Airflow: 4.5, based on 4 reviews
Suction is a clear strength. Testers found medium power sufficient for most cleaning, while max mode delivered a substantial jump over the V8.
  • 4.5
    based on 2 reviews
Bin and Bag: 4.5, based on 2 reviews
The bin looks compact, but it compresses debris effectively and is easy to remove and clean. Emptying mechanics are simple, though fine dust can remain around the cyclone.
  • 4.5
    based on 2 reviews
Hard Floor — Fine Dust Pickup: 4.5, based on 2 reviews
Fine dust pickup on hard floors is strong in normal or medium mode, and the green light makes remaining particles easy to spot.
  • 4.5
    based on 2 reviews
Storage footprint and upright-stand stability: 4.5, based on 2 reviews
The wall dock keeps the vacuum upright, charges it automatically, and provides convenient storage for a couple of tools.
  • 4.5
    based on 2 reviews
Versatility: 4.5, based on 2 reviews
Its combination of floorhead, handheld mode, wand reach, and small motorized tools makes it useful across floors, furniture, stairs, and cars.
  • 4.5
    based on 1 review
    Carpet — Medium-Pile Pickup: 4.5, based on 1 review
Medium-pile carpet performance is excellent, with strong grooming and clean carpet lines without needing floorhead adjustments.
  • 4.5
    based on 1 review
Ongoing ownership costs (bags, filters, batteries): 4.5, based on 1 review
Washable filters and efficient cyclones keep routine ownership demands low, with filters needing attention only occasionally.
  • 4.3
    based on 4 reviews
Battery and Charging: 4.3, based on 4 reviews
The removable, swappable battery and automatic charging dock are widely praised. A four-hour charge and short high-power runtime are the main limitations.
  • 4.3
    based on 2 reviews
    Carpet — Low-Pile Pickup: 4.3, based on 2 reviews
Low-pile carpet pickup is strong, with normal or medium power handling most debris and max mode cleaning up more deeply embedded material.
  • 4.3
    based on 2 reviews
Convertible handheld design: 4.3, based on 2 reviews
The vacuum converts easily between stick and handheld use, and reviewers liked the familiar, proven handheld layout for cars, stairs, and above-floor cleaning.
  • 4.2
    based on 3 reviews
Accessories and Tools: 4.2, based on 3 reviews
The included tools cover stairs, upholstery, crevices, and car cleaning well, but some packages omit a basic combination dusting tool and the extension hose feels awkward.
  • 4.2
    based on 3 reviews
Stair Cleaning: 4.2, based on 3 reviews
The mini motorized tool works very well on stairs, but one tester found the full wand-and-tool setup draggy enough to require two hands.
  • 4.2
    based on 3 reviews
Weight: 4.2, based on 3 reviews
The complete vacuum feels light and maneuverable, although the hand weight remains noticeable because most of the mass sits near the grip.
  • 4.1
    based on 4 reviews
Controls and UI: 4.1, based on 4 reviews
The top power button and three clearly differentiated modes are easier to live with than Dyson's old trigger design, especially for users with hand discomfort. The lack of an information screen is a notable downgrade.
  • 4.0
    based on 2 reviews
Innovation compared to competitors: 4.0, based on 2 reviews
The backward-compatible auto-empty concept is genuinely unusual for a cordless vacuum, but the dock's delayed availability and separate purchase blunt the innovation.
  • 4.0
    based on 1 review
Hair Pickup — Hard Floors: 4.0, based on 1 review
Long hair on hard floors is usually removed cleanly, though an occasional strand may need a stronger setting.
  • 3.8
    based on 6 reviews
Overall opinion: 3.8, based on 6 reviews
Hands-on reviewers were strongly positive about cleaning power, hair handling, and usability, but the loud floorhead, dock delays, and value comparisons keep it from feeling flawless.
  • 3.8
    based on 6 reviews
Price and Value: 3.8, based on 6 reviews
Value depends heavily on pricing. Several testers thought it was excellent in the midrange, while others preferred the cheaper V8 or a discounted V15 with more features.
  • 3.8
    based on 2 reviews
Hard Floor — Large Debris Intake: 3.8, based on 2 reviews
Everyday crumbs and mixed debris are collected very well, but oversized hard objects can jam or rattle inside the conical head.
  • 3.5
    based on 3 reviews
Floorhead design: 3.5, based on 3 reviews
The conical head reduces hair wrap and handles mixed floors well, but its center section, pointed front, noise, and dust-catching cavities create real tradeoffs.

Cons

  • 3.4
    based on 5 reviews
Comparative performance: 3.4, based on 5 reviews
Performance lands well above the V8 in raw power and approaches the V15 class, yet the cheaper V8 remains compelling and a sale-priced V15 can still be the smarter buy.
  • 3.3
    based on 2 reviews
Aesthetic design and finish: 3.3, based on 2 reviews
The bright, glossy finish looks premium at first, but fingerprints, dust buildup, and visible scuffs can quickly make the head look untidy.
  • 3.0
    based on 1 review
Area Rug Handling: 3.0, based on 1 review
Loose or bumpy rugs can reduce floorhead contact, so pickup may require extra passes or a higher power mode.
  • 2.8
    based on 3 reviews
Emptying and Mess Control: 2.8, based on 3 reviews
The planned Auto-empty Dok is highly appealing, but it remains a separate, inconsistently available purchase. Manual emptying can also leave fine dust around the cyclone.
  • 2.8
    based on 3 reviews
Runtime: 2.8, based on 3 reviews
Runtime is acceptable in medium and eco modes but falls well short of the headline figure with the powered head attached. Max mode lasts only a few minutes.
  • 2.8
    based on 2 reviews
Edge and Baseboard Cleaning (Hard Floors): 2.8, based on 2 reviews
Side-edge pickup is better than expected, but the pointed front shape needs extra angling and repeated passes to collect debris directly ahead of the head.
  • 2.5
    based on 2 reviews
Hair-removal channel issues: 2.5, based on 2 reviews
The rollers resist wrapping, but hair and dust can still collect around the central split and motor guard, creating a small cleanup point.
  • 2.5
    based on 1 review
Clogging and debris prevention: 2.5, based on 1 review
Very large debris can lodge at the front of the conical head and rattle against the casing, so bulky objects are better picked up by hand.
  • 2.5
    based on 1 review
Hose length: 2.5, based on 1 review
The optional extension hose adds reach, but it is short, stiff, and less manageable than a generic replacement.
  • 2.5
    based on 1 review
Scratch resistance: 2.5, based on 1 review
The cleaner head can scuff and scratch quickly during normal use, even though some surface marks can be removed with rubbing alcohol.
  • 2.0
    based on 1 review
Noise level: 2.0, based on 1 review
The motor itself is controlled, but the conical floorhead becomes excessively loud on hard floors because of its internal combs and small wheels.
  • 2.0
    based on 1 review
Product availability: 2.0, based on 1 review
Availability is a major drawback: the vacuum and its separate Auto-empty Dok have rolled out unevenly, with some regions still waiting for either component.

FAQ

Does the Dyson V10 Konical prevent long hair from wrapping?

Yes. Multiple testers found the conical rollers moved long hair toward the suction path instead of winding it around the brush, with only isolated strands collecting near the center guard.

How long does the battery last with the powered floorhead?

Testing produced about 25 minutes in medium mode, just over 33 minutes in eco mode, and roughly seven minutes in max mode. The advertised 60 minutes requires eco mode with a non-powered suction tool.

Is the V10 Konical good on carpets and hard floors?

It performs strongly on low- and medium-pile carpet and collects fine dust and everyday debris well on hard floors. Bumpy rugs and debris directly in front of the pointed head may need extra passes.

Is the conical floorhead noisy?

Yes, especially on hard floors. The internal anti-tangle combs and small wheels make the head much louder than Dyson's fluffy floorhead, even though the vacuum motor itself is relatively smooth.

Does it include the Auto-empty Dok?

No. The Auto-empty Dok is a separate purchase and was not consistently available when these assessments were published, so the vacuum may initially require manual emptying and wall-dock charging.

Is it worth upgrading from a Dyson V8?

The V10 Konical adds substantially more peak suction, a better anti-wrap head, a removable battery, and bright dust illumination. However, a V8 remains a strong lower-cost option, while a discounted V15 can offer better overall value.
